God of Mercy
© 2008 Kris Shaffer

demo recording performed by Michelle Hixson

God of mercy never ceasing,

Lord, we raise this song to Thee;

For Thou wouldst not let us perish

But from sin hast set us free.

Thine is such a great salvation;

Let us not now turn aside.

Naught in all the earth can save us;

May we e'er in Thee abide.

God, whose mercy floweth freely,

But whose justice doth not fade,

Sin hath made us all Thy debtors,

But our ransom Christ hath paid.

How our Savior condescended,

Cursed sinners to befriend;

For a time he quit his glory,

Souls to save and spirits mend.

Now we raise our alleluia

To the God who reigns on high,

For our Savior broke his body

That our souls no more may die.

Let us now with solemn sorrow

Mourn our sin that caused his pain,

But with joy receive his mercy

And eternal life attain.

‘But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.’  (Ephesians 2:4-5, ESV)

‘How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?’  (Hebrews 2:3)
